Every Lymesmith mural is a unique response to its site, meaning that the building, people, environment and history of the place all influence the mural design.
I don’t ‘put my pictures onto walls’ as if I were hanging a painting in a blank white gallery.
Each mural is designed to reflect and enhance the best qualities of the place it occupies.
The integration of building and decoration is an ancient and quintessentially human activity. Painting murals connects us with the very first people to make coloured marks on walls - we are part of a lineage going back many thousands of years.
We have always had stories to tell, and we need places to gather. Our dwellings and buildings are spaces for culture and connection.
