RAVENS NEST MURAL
RAVENS NEST MURAL FOR THIRD.I - CROWS NEST, Sydney
Ravens Nest is a striking abstract painting, using the device of the colonnade to give structure and elegance to a modest warehouse facade on a gritty urban back lane. Alternating bands of warm and cool colours create rhythm and depth.
The all seeing eye keeps watch on the lane, perhaps awaiting further transformational projects to take flight in this precinct undergoing significant redevelopment stimulated by the new Metro line and opening of Crow’s Nest Station.
Clients Third.i declare:
"Not only do our projects need to end up ‘Brilliant’ in how they look and function, we need to ensure that our clients & tenants have a sense of ‘Brilliance’ when they occupy the spaces we have delivered for them.
Our catchphrase ‘welcome to optimism’ means we strive to deliver transformation, innovation and positivity, we pride ourselves on doing things differently to make communities stronger.”
The mural was designed to align with Third.i’s clean and bold company aesthetic, without resorting to simplistic apeing of branding colours. After studying the context of the lane and the future plans for the area, colours of Paperbark and Water Gum street trees were selected for the vertical ‘columns’. Blues and blue black represents the iridescence of glossy black Corvids - to represent the company values of innovative brilliance - and of course, a nod to the location of Crows Nest. The birds after which Crows Nest was named, are actually Ravens.
